Mutant Termite Warrior by David Rindner
This was modeled for an in-house character modeling project. I conceptualized a mutated termite colony. I wanted a gross looking insect that is a combination of ant, termite, and lobster. The creature was modeled entirely in Rhino. It was brought in as IGES NURBS into 3DS MAX 3.1, where it was rigged with Physique and bones. The materials are a combination of Darktree shaders and maps painted in Bodypaint 3D and Photoshop. To minimize rendering times, DarkTrees were converted into rendermaps and layered in Bodypaint3D and Photoshop.
